Office Support: Assist with a variety of office duties including filing and organizing, greeting visitors, and providing information on Thriving Pink’s programs and services. Requires: Weekly commitment in the Thriving Pink Office, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and familiarity with Thriving Pink.
Outreach Support: Thriving Pink conducts outreach and awareness at various community events throughout the year. Volunteers help with table set-up and are present to connect with the community by sharing information about our programs and services. Requires: Join us in a short orientation to Thriving Pink and volunteer for an upcoming outreach event.
Pink Peer Mentoring: Peer mentors are connected with an individual who is newly diagnosed to share their experience and offer fellowship and support. Anyone who has been diagnosed as a breast cancer previvor, survivor, or metavivor who is one year post initial treatment can apply to become a Thriving Pink Peer Mentor. Requires: Application, pre-screening interview, training, and a commitment to support the individual you are matched with.
Event Support: Thriving Pink hosts a Pink Gala and volunteers perform many activities from event planning, support and donor solicitation, today of event set-up, and on-site support. Requires: Join us and participate in upcoming events.
Pink Pals: Pals are matched with our Granting Pink recipients, and they provide connection and support throughout the Granting Pink process. This includes letting grantees know they received a grant, making them aware of Thriving Pink’s other programs, and presenting them with their grant. Requires: Passion for supporting breast cancer community members, pre-screening interview, familiarity with Thriving Pink programs and services, and a 3-month commitment.
Stitches of Love: A volunteer sewing group that makes quilts, face masks, and mastectomy recovery heart pillows for local breast cancer survivors. Instruction will be provided, and beginners are welcome. Requires: Participation is on a drop-in basis and meets every month.
Fundraising: We invite you to host a fundraising event with donations going to Thriving Pink. Coordinate with us today!
Workshop Administration: Manage the Thriving Pink Workshop Calendar. Maintain a database of workshop presenters, manage post workshop evaluations, and close out the event. Requires: Knowledge of Google suite tools and commitment to learn workshop programs.
Comfort Bag Preparation and Distribution: Thriving Pink prepares comfort bags for local healthcare systems to share with newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Volunteers help to make, donate and/or assemble items included in the bags during our Annual Volunteer Day in September. Volunteers also help to distribute bags to local healthcare facilities. Requires: Please join us and participate in this meaningful outreach to the community.
Bilingual Outreach and Support: Translate Thriving Pink materials into Spanish, develop new outreach materials in Spanish, and help conduct outreach to Spanish speaking individuals/communities in Yolo County. Requires: Bilingual in Spanish and English.
In-Kind Donations: Solicit businesses or create special items for our various Thriving Pink comfort bags, and events. Requires: We invite anyone to participate. Donations are welcome anytime.
Public Speaking: Thriving Pink makes community presentations on breast cancer, our programs, and services. This includes presentations to local chambers of commerce, rotary clubs, and schools. Requires: Familiarity with Thriving Pink’s programs and services and attendance at a brief orientation presentation.
Grant Writing: Thriving Pink relies on grant funding to support a portion of our programs and services. Volunteer writers research grant opportunities and help to prepare grant applications. This work can be done remotely throughout the year. Requires: Computer access and strong writing skills. Requires: Prior grant writing experience a plus.
Graphic Design: Design graphics for various Thriving Pink communications materials including event invitations and program flyers. Requires: Experience using graphic design software; prior graphic design experience a plus.
Data Base and Data Entry Support: Assist in the development of spreadsheets to support Thriving Pink programs and initiatives with associated data entry. Assist in upkeep of Thriving Pink’s core database. This work can be done remotely throughout the year. Requires: Experience with spreadsheets and data systems. Attention to detail and confidentiality required.
